Meet ORAL SURGEON ERIC C. KNOX, D.D.S.
Dr. Knox was raised in Fort Dodge, Iowa during his junior high and high school years. During this time he was active in Boy Scouts. In his senior year high school he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. Dr. Knox graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High with honors in 1992. Upon graduation, he entered the University of Iowa and his studies centered around the sciences. After his freshman year he was inducted into Phi Eta Sigma honor society. In 1996 he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology, and in the summer of 1996 Dr. Knox entered the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. During his attendance at the College of Dentistry Dr. Knox was active in dental research, specifically prosthodontic research. He received the Dows research award and the National Institute of Dental Research Training Grant Award. He was also a member of the International Dental Research Association and presented at those meetings twice.
Dr. Knox graduated from the College of Dentistry with honors and with the Dental Materials Research Award. After graduation from the College of Dentistry Dr. Knox entered an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at New York Medical College in Manhattan, New York. His training included rotations at Metropolitan Hospital and also St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Centers of Manhattan. During his rotation at St. Vincent’s Dr. Knox was involved in treating 911 victims. Dr. Knox was appointed instructor of dental medicine at New York Medical College in July 2003 and in July of 2004 he received his certificate of completion in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Medical College.
Dr. Eric Knox is Board Certified in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
In 2004 Dr. Knox joined Fort Dodge Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Currently Dr. Knox treats patients in Fort Dodge, Carroll, and Spencer. He has staff privileges at Trinity Regional Medical Center. He has served as the president of the Fort Dodge District Dental Society and also participates in the Fort Dodge Dental Study Club. To remain current with changing surgical techniques in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dr. Knox regularly attends numerous surgical conferences and workshops.
Dr. Knox also enjoys camping, hunting and spending time with his wife and four children.
Dr. Knox is active in the cycling community in Fort Dodge, and is a member of Dodger Cyclists, and also a founding member of Fort Dodge Tri-Sport. Dr. Knox is an amateur bicycle racer and frequently participates in competitive cycling races throughout the state during the spring and summer months. He is a member of the Holy Trinity Parish and he is a board member of the Twin Lakes District Boy Scout Council.
